FAQ
Common Questions
What is Battler Golf League?
BGL is a 6-month, 2-person Ambrose league for everyday amateur golfers with handicaps between 10 and 36. Register as a team with your mate, play one match per month at any course, and compete for prizes throughout the season. Think structured competition that fits around real life: work, kids, and everything else.
How much does it cost?
$157 per person ($314 per team). That covers your full season entry, BGL merch pack (tees, ball marker, stubby holder), app access, and eligibility for all prizes. Green fees at each course are your own. See all prizes.
What handicap do I need?
You need a Golf Australia handicap between 10 and 36. Below 10? Too good for us. Above 36? Capped at 36. This is a league built for everyday golfers, not touring pros.
Where do we play?
Anywhere you want. Home team picks the course for their home matches, away team gets to play somewhere new. Three home, three away across the season. We do our best to match you with teams close to you so travel is never an issue. You pay your own green fees, but away teams could score members rates.
How does the app work?
The BGL App is where the entire league lives: live hole-by-hole scoring, automatic handicap calculations, league tables, fixture scheduling, team profiles, and messaging. One player from each team enters scores during the round. No spreadsheets, no WhatsApp groups. You get full app access once your team is registered.
Is there an age limit?
There's no age limit. If you hold an official Golf Australia handicap between 10 and 36, you're in. Whether you're 18 or 80, the league is open to you.
Is BGL open to all genders?
Absolutely. BGL is open to everyone — men, women, and mixed teams are all welcome. The only requirement is a valid Golf Australia handicap between 10 and 36. The handicap system keeps every match fair regardless of who's playing.
What about sandbagging and cheating?
We take this seriously. Every player's name and handicap is cross-referenced against their GolfLink number, and handicaps are verified prior to each match. We encourage you to ask your opponents to show their official GA handicap on the day. Golf Australia's handicapping system also has built-in measures that limit aggressive sandbagging. League integrity is our top priority. Learn more.
