1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the Battler Golf League (“BGL”) website (thebgl.com.au) and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not access the service.

2. Eligibility

To participate in BGL seasons, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a valid Golf Australia handicap between 10 and 36 (inclusive)
  • Be an Australian resident or have the right to play in Australia
  • Register with a teammate who meets the same eligibility requirements

3. Registration and Fees

Registration reserves your spot in a BGL season. Entry fees are collected once season prizes are confirmed. All payments are processed securely through Shopify’s payment platform. Entry fees are non-refundable unless:

  • The season does not reach the minimum number of teams required (24 teams per state)
  • BGL cancels the season for any reason

Refunds, where applicable, will be processed to the original payment method via Shopify’s refund system.

4. League Rules

All matches are played under the Rules of Golf as defined by the R&A and Golf Australia. BGL-specific rules include:

  • Matches are played as 2-person Ambrose match play
  • Teams must complete their match within the designated monthly window
  • Handicaps are verified before each match using Golf Australia data
  • Scores must be entered via the BGL App with both teams signing off
  • One substitution per season is permitted

5. Code of Conduct

All participants agree to:

  • Play with integrity and sportsmanship
  • Respect opponents, course staff, and other golfers
  • Adhere to the dress code and rules of the host course
  • Not engage in any form of cheating or score manipulation
  • Resolve disputes through the BGL App dispute resolution process

BGL reserves the right to disqualify any team or individual for breaches of this code of conduct without refund.

6. Prizes

Season prizes are awarded to the winning team of each state bracket. Prize details are confirmed before entry fees are collected. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Winners are responsible for any additional expenses not explicitly covered in the prize description.

7. Intellectual Property

The BGL name, logo, and all related content are the property of Battler Golf League. By participating, you grant BGL permission to use your name, likeness, and submitted content (including photos and match highlights) for promotional purposes.

8. Online Store

Our online store is hosted on Shopify. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your use of the store is also governed by Shopify’s Terms of Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

BGL is not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages incurred during league play. Participants play at their own risk and are responsible for their own insurance coverage. BGL is not responsible for course conditions, weather-related cancellations, or any issues arising from third-party services.

10. Changes to Terms

BGL reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered participants.
